The Assignment

I did not intend to post here today.  I signed up for a Blogging 101 course, to help me grow as a blogger.  I feel like I have so much to offer, but I don’t know a lot about how to present it in a blog.  Already, I’ve learned a lot through trial and error.  I’m taking this course so I can continue to improve.  Our first assignment is to write a “who I am and why I’m here” post.  At first, I thought this was unfitting for my blog because I did that about 2 weeks ago when I started this blog.  However, after further thought, I realized a recap for all of you who are new to my blog isn’t a bad idea.

Who I Am

Let me begin by reintroducing myself. My name is Mireille.  I’m a 30-year-old, mother of 3 boys.  I’m French Canadian, but happily married to an American Soldier.  I am a healthy living addict. It all began when, as a teenager I struggled terribly with poor body image.  I was always trying to be skinnier, no matter what harm that meant doing to myself.  The road to recovery started when I learned more about proper nutrition and fitness.  I wanted to learn all that I could.  This led to an interest in overall health.  It’s my passion.  I now have a bachelors of science in nutrition.  I hope to get my certification as a personal trainer soon.  We’ll see what’s next after that.

Why I Blog

Because of the hard times that I kept to myself for so long, I find it liberating to just let my mind go as I share all my thoughts in this blog.  I share it publicly because if I help even just one person find joy in healthy living, it’s all worth so much more than anything I can imagine.

Help Others

I want to help people overcome the fears and excuses that hold them back from healthy living.  I want to inspire and motivate them.  I’m trying to fill this blog with simple ideas anyone can use to get the first step in the right direction.

The Dream

I’d love to connect with people who are interested in healthy living, regardless of where they’re currently at on their journey.  We need to support each other and motivate each other.  We need to share what works for us, and things we learn.  I hope that someday this blog has a lot of very interactive followers.  I’d love to see lots of comments filled with discussion.

    I have been told that everyone who is willing to put themselves out there in order to help others has something to offer. You are unique in your struggles and how you overcame them. You and your perspective will “speak” to people. Good luck with your journey and know that you are doing a great service – helping the world be a healthier place for your kids!
