REAL, FRUGAL, HEALTHY, and FUN!!!
My family and I loved making our own homemade guacamole long before I got into healthy eating. Lucky for us, we’ve been making it healthy the whole time! For that reason, I haven’t thought to share the recipe. Sometimes, I forget about the healthy dishes I started eating before I studied nutrition. Now, I love guacamole, as I said before. I like the guacamole I’m served in restaurants, and even a few varieties from the grocery store. However, not only is mine healthier, it is also way better tasting!
4 ripe avocadoes
1/3 cup olive or avocado oil
Juice of 1 lime
1 large tomato chopped or approximate equivalent of a smaller variety
1/3 cup chopped red onion
1 jalapeno (optional)
1 large garlic clove, or 2 small
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
Directions: Peel and pit avocadoes. Mash the avocado in a bowl with the oil and the lime juice. Add chopped tomato, onion, jalapeno, and garlic. Stir in salt and pepper. That’s seriously all you do. Enjoy! I enjoy guacamole with my Maple Bacon Sweet Potato Chips. The flavors are so good together!
